► DIRECT CALL SERVICE◄ Direct Dialogue with a Forecaster Area Coverage: the Mediterranean Sea Calling (+39) 0185.45611 the Captain is briefed on the weather situation by Navimeteo Forecaster for the area of interest and route. The captain is kindly requested to let the forecaster know his observed weather to check it against other reports and weather models. Service run daily all year including holidays. The Direct Call service allows a Captain to talk directly to a Marine Weather Forecaster by telephone. This contact can either be established before a voyage or while en-route when updates on weather conditions are needed.

Communicating by telephone is much more efficient that listening to an automated answering machine because the information is more specific, with the possibility of asking questions to an expert. This is important, especially when there are time constraints or critical situations to deal with.

Bringing marine weather information across to captains in a clear and simple way is a standard way to operate for Navimeteo Forecasters.

It is as if they are aboard with the captain, sharing – to some extent – the same emotions and worries, not just while talking to him over the telephone.

As to the technical quality of the information provided, the forecasters will always strive to maintain a high standard, making sure, for example, that weather data are constantly updated, or meeting any specific requirement of the user.

The direct call service is available for professional yachts/ship Captains during the overnight period as a standard, whereas sailors can choose whether to just use the service during the daytime or on a 24 hour basis.
